First off Sorry to Valmont for my bomber run last night at 3.40 am http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/puppy_eyes.gif

I think we need a poll on the issue and maybe you lot can make me see the errors of my ways and repent .

We had a 1 on 1 in Quarry which was probably about an hour old? Game was well matched but I had blast and a bomber with I used 2 or 3 times before it was shot down. After a long delay I got another bomber up which I used to take out the centre pool where Val had a constructor and had just started building.

My next bomb run hit his defences and Rocket Tanks directly infront of his rec and caused enough collateral damage that on the final run (My first direct run targetted specifally at his rec) I killed his rec. Not very nice killing rec first I know but in a close 1 on 1 if you ever want a result you have to sometimes be realistic and kill the rec first. I still cannot see how the honourable principle of rec last can be upheld in every game, every time, but maybe your comments will help.

So opinions? Was that a cardinal sin or a fair move?

In hind sight it was probably not a good idea to stab one of my m8's in the back like that so sorry again Val. I should probably have said rec is fair game first but I saw it at 75% health and a red haze overcame me.

Its alright man, i mean, an hour long game if it was a big struggle back and forth and u were getting nowhere then yeah go for rec, but if u were clearly ontop or he was starting to come back then it woulda been kinda cheap cause its like what ur not good enough to take him out without rushing rec? but u know what i mean? :) dont worry man, the point of 1 v 1 is to kill the rec its a different game than team strat. I personally dont always like rec first but am sometimes forced to do so. Usually what ill do in one on one is if enemy cannot hit my rec and theirs is wide open early in game i will hit it to about yellow, if within ten minutes they have not been inteligent enough to heal their rec then they dont deserve to have it.

Its really hard when every time you attack their heavily defended base on your own to break their defences sometimes, so especially after 1 hr game depending on how tired I was, I would go for rec if I had the opotunity or I would consentrate on pools and build a little overwhelming army of bikes having a bomber on standby I would distract and wipe it all out. Thats what I would hope to happen :).

You shouldn't really worry unless you both agreed on a rec-last rule :).

Val should have been smart enough to tell his RT's to "target" your bomber and destroy it. Val's first faulty error there.

As I used to understand it, rec was always last for bac members, but that has not been the case with bac in the last year or so with many new members, and some old. Though I prefer rec last, I usually attempt to hit rec first ONLY if I feel threatened in a loss or after 50-60 min of a game because if it lasts that long, there is much defense everywhere and rec should be a fair target at that point in any game.

I know exactly what you mean fired with a '4 am' touch, i was screaming at about 3.30 am this morning, in game with mal and op 'im going for the rec!' i was exhausted and i just want the game over at that time of night/morning. I understand where val is coming from though, it is very annoying if you are playing a game your way, meaning rec last, and your enemy comes over and kills your rec. I would say just be glad there was a winner and not a draw. You obviously did very well Fired as Val is a good dogfighter:)
