Me and Rob (commander) were playing a 2v2 on quarry. The commander of the other team, NewbieCanobie (alias), when me and Rob had a clear advantage, he falsely accused Rob of having his MWF on 4 when it was host rule that MWF should be default, and used that for grounds to kick him out of the game, and then he closed the game to new joiners. He ignored my requests to unlock the game, and was very proud of himself as he took the map back over. and he and his partner (Rook was his name) seemed very content with even fighting a game against no one, since he didn't even unlock the game after I left. He is an ASSHOLE, and should be booted from all games he joins. His I.P. is 204.233.212.233:17771. What a prick.

I have a related question for anyone, though: I always use the default mwf unless told otherwise by the host. I played a game against some VNB'ers a few days ago and my team was getting slaughtered. After asking, they told me that they were using mwf 4, which apparently is their standard mwf. When I asked the host why he hadn't told us this before starting, he said "because you didn't ask."

That left a bad taste in my mouth. Was I wrong to assume that the mwf should be default, unless the host gives us a different setting?

While MWF 10 is default, MWF 4 is usually used among most vets. Unless the host has a super comp (and connection), he/she should not use MWF period for optimal performance. When hosting it is better to use the "sendtwice" command but many will argue the fact and still use MWF.

When used properly MWF can improve compatibility of player's connections but the prob is that we have different comps, connections, configurations and there are those who abuses it tremendously. Good players in general will not need the use of MWF and they will tell you that. I don't know what happened in the game you are referring to but usually hosts if they are on the up and up will tell you what MWF to use. Some however just assumes everyone knows. Until then...

Seems to me that when i change to mwf4 I simply can't make hits on the enemy. I played at 10 when some VnB'ers were at 4 and it seems to be better for me to hit their laggin asses. Maybe usin BC is the reason most games with them suck. smilies/finger.gif Who knows.

Hmm Rooks, Only Hosts can do commanded Send Twice. If host will do it. It should make less lag. Well i think thats it.

network.session.sendtwice

is a console cmd most often used by hosts( only reccomended that hosts use this cmd ) to ensure less pkt loss for people who usually experience high pkt loss in game. Helps reduce lag and warp.....l8rz....

Sendtwice command sends every packet of data twicw , which is helpful in games where players are in differant countrys, it requires much more bandwith to use.


The rumors of mwf settings are not true in anyway . It does not matter what the host is set on , if everyone is useing the same mwf alot of times it cause major warp to all. It is simply used for each individule to reach his best performance for the system he is playing on. People that set there mwf to low usally wind up being an easier target because in reality they have decreased there frame draw . If each person pics a mwf setting that suits there pc then nobody would hve a problem . Alot of the warp issues are coming from hosts who have to many maps ,mods etc. installed. The more you put in your bz2 directory the more load it puts on your game. I know this because i used to think people were changing there mwf to cause lag , so with us talking to ken miller and nathan about the av issue , we also inquired about the mwf and that is the reply we got. Oh 1 other thing , if i cause so many avs why is it that it was me and dutchboy who are responsable for the 1.3 coming out. It was over are conversation with them to help us make a fix that sparked the whole idea of 1.3 . :)

I guess so as Zam also said the same thing...But some of us (respected vets alike) shares a different view from our MWF experiences. Many abuse the settings for MWF so in retrospect I wonder if we were just better off with using 10. Remember those days? Until then...

I have tryed to play at 10 . After the first dogfight and they come back in emptys it pointless to even play. Everything seems to be about 4 seconds faster than me. At 160 fps and 0 lag that shouldnt be.

I recon that sumone should get rid of the MWF thing all together so there is only 1 setting cos all it does is cause moaning !!!
