Soundcards....

Well, my dad has had to change his SB audigy EIGHT times now because they kept frying everytime he installed a new piece of software (they literally FRIED, blue smoke and all).

He's a little bit annoyed by this of course, and i'm asking everyone out there in the soundcard world what they would recommend as an alternative to the audigy.

Any advice would be cool guys

Well buddy....Its a little cheaper and has many more options than the audigy...but it has the same specs as far as sound quality and the good name.
Go for the Sound Blaster Extigy.
I have one and they rock!
Its external too....so headphone, midi and mic hookups are real easy.
My pictures rattle off my walls mate!

i think something wrong with the PCI slot of your motherboard... try a different slot. I remember had this problem too ended up buying a new board.

geez, I have that sound card and the only smoke I get is how fricken loud it is in my office, with 4 speakers
