did u upgrade ur OS or something?

TNT2 starts to lag when u advance to higher resolutions. try to use 640x480@16bit to see if it helps. try to turn off ICQ and applets that constantly uses internet. try to upgrade to win98se

win98SE -> win2000 or XP or ME is degrading not upgrading http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/biggrin.gif

LMAO This is rather enjoyable.
Win2k and WinXP a downgrade compared
to win98 woohaaa.
Win2k is 10x more stable then win98.

However TnT probs.
I would suggest to uninstall current
drivers and install the 2742 which can
be found @ http://www.guru3d.com/files/
Get NVMax4.00.49
NVMax4.00.49 (http://www.charnleys.co.uk/NVmax4.exe)
Make sure ya have Fast Mipmap checked
and page flipping checked.

Can't agree more with Devil on this one...
Replace those drivers!

If that doesnt fix it....try a different PCI slot.

If that doesnt work....Buy a new vid card. (Recommended) http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/idea.gif

If that doesnt work....smash everything with a hammer! http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/smashfreak.gif

http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/biggrin.gif ya i agree about win2k, its totally stable, i run it daily, but when it comes to games its a lag to loose! after 6mo using win2k with games realized the performances all gobbled up by the OS so i ended up with win98 partition mainly for games.. win2k is made for office environment, not for entertainment maybe we all should upgrade to mac http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/lookaround.gif

and one more thin - stay away from directx8.1 http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/ohh_dear.gif

I'll have to try the 27.42 driver. I think I d/l the 28.32 and my vid hasn't been the same since. Will have to 27.42 that the best driver for a TNT2? Will have to try out the NVMax also. You guys use the detonator destroyer? Should I try that too?

Hey hey hey,

I haven't been back here
after I posted my last message.
However win2k isn't getting slower
after a few months!!!
This is something that would be the case
with win ME & Win XP if ya have the system
restore option checked.
This cause it then will make a record of each
file that being added/removed.

I only run win2k and after I tried winXP for 2 days I didn't know how fast to remove it and get back with my win2k.

If anyone tells me Win2k isn't working for him with running games,

I would suggest:
*make sure ya have all the updates (SP1,2&3 and latest DirectX)

THESE APPLY FOR ALL WIN VERSION!

*make sure you don't have Norton AV, BlackIce (or whatever firewall) ICQ, download managers etc. running on backgrnd. (this goes for all win version)
*Get yourself 2742 or the newest 2832 drivers ( last mentioned do run alittle slower but are even more stable and enhance image quality)
*Get the NVmax4.00.43 (after some testing this one seems even better)

*Settings in NVMax:

SYSTEMtab: AGP 4x - Fast-writes & Side band adressing on (default)
Clock-default (this cause I myself allready have my system overclocked)
Coloradjustments & Overlay-standard.
Miscellaneous-whatever suits you.

DIRECTXtab: AA off - Textures auto - V-Sync Off (all times) Miscellaneous standard.

OPENGLtab: AA off - Textures fast mipmap filtering ON!! Force S3TC v3 compression ON!! (if your card supports it) Filtering mode Bilinear or Trilinear.

Also make sure that ya checked load at startup in options.

These options should give all a better game performance.
If you run win2k and after these settings etc. still have probs then you can always make a poweruser and play under that profile.
I myself play in Admin profile without probs.

ANOTHER GR8 TIP
To get your paging files optimized, you can goto
System Properties -->Performance options
(Optimized for applications should be checked)
and make the initial size & max size both the amount
of 2,5 x your ram. In my case that's 2,5 x 512mb's=1280.
So my initial & Maxsize are both set to 1280.
This way it will always have the amount needed and therefor
your hd will make less hick ups!!

I myself even gave pagingfiles a separate partition of 2 gig.
Offcourse that maybe a bit overboard to do right now but when
ya ever need to reinstall and have the space, I recommend it :o)

I would recommend Win2k to everyone because it deals with system resources sooo much better.

When I played LinksLS (online golf sim), I also ran Win98SE.
With that golf game ya had a meter that ya had to click on to give
the ball the exact amount of power and then at the second click
give it the excact direction the ball should goto.

I played the highest league, against the best players so making a
mistake meant losing.

Therefor I had all my tweaks and settings to get em freaking resources free for the game. To make sure I didn't get any HD glitches while playing. However there was no way of preventing it from happpening at all times.

When I stepped over to Win2k all that was GONE!!!
Meter ran smooth like silk.
Something that never was the case with win98SE after a few swings.

So yeah I LOVE Win2k for my grfx Work, I love Win2k for my 3D render appz (They love Win2k as much back trust me) and I love Win2k for my games.

ok i will throw in my two cents also..

in my opinion, win2k have loads of network security layers, in addition to software patches and service packs ... that constantly needs to be analyzed by the software kernel (software based packet), for those who dont have a premium system to run win2k this may be very noticeable... anytime software wants to analyze a realtime data it translates to lag no doubt same as win2k's software disc-array, it runs like a dawg... so imagine running software firewall, that just totally kills everything LOL.. this is when win98 comes #1 in play.

but when it comes to stability.... I choose win2k.

i tend to analyze thigs..
