help! i need help!

[<HELP PLZ HELP>]

whenever i try to update half life or install cs or dod, i get the this message! OH I NEED HELP! I FORMATTED 3 TIMES AND I STILL GET THE SAME PROBLEM!

"An I/O error occurred while installing a file. This is normally caused by bad installation media or a currupt installation file."
then i get to choose Retry or Abort.
I clikc retry like a million times, but in the end, nothing happens and i am forced to press abort.
somtimes it will install to near full, then the error will occur, other times, it will occur straight away.
ive downloaded the file over and over again, from different servers, i did a full system virus scan, i even recreated my mbr...but none of it seems to work! HELP GUYS! CS IS MY LIFE ONLINE! COME ON!

i think your CD is scratched or thats something with your CD-ROM it cant read your CD

What OS?
How old is CD-ROM?
Is CD-ROM set to DMA or PIO?
Need more info mate!

In addition to the ?'s above......

I think he means an update patch prolly 1.5, sounds like a corrupt set of isntallation files.

If it is just the patch, simple solution, just re download it from another site.

If its the core files off the cd......you may need to replace it.

yes, well, does the I/O error occur when installling other large files?
Note that "corrupt installation files"are only half of the story.
"Bad installation media" (broken hardware) is the other part.
Also note that your hardware doesn't need to be even broken. Over some elapsed time the quality of hardware decreases wich makes it more vulnerable to heat-changes wich will cause I/O errors quite easely.

So start testing your hardware and make sure the flat-cables inside your computer are still connected firmly, just like any other device and relevant cable.

MOd or retail?

Prolly got the wrong files.......see if u got HL u need MOD cs 1.5 csv15.exe for MOD....I dld it off the links at csnation, Used 4 different servers with getright to get it uber fast.....IF u need it bad. I am sure one of us mod users wouldnt mind uploading via icq or direct link. I fu need. But I know at least 5 of the links at csnation for FULL mod version work....

OH I FOUND UR PROBLEM, U DOWNLAODED THE UPDATE PATCH, and NOT THE FULL MOD PATCH didnt you? THE UPDATE is CORRUPTED, I had to dl the full.

A worm came out a few months ago, cause installation errors like you metnion above.....is it only the mods for halflife that wont install right? Or does it do it with any installation?

If it does it with any installation check ur anti virus software vendor out, I forget the name of the worm but a few bac know of it. It messes up installations and causes errors like what you posted above. And no bro, I dont take anyone as a moron. That would be dangerous to underestimate someone like that.....

hrmmm in fact i do, i use kazaalite, i might just well install nav2002 again and have a scan...in fact, i might try a few other virus scans, because not being able to play dod is really pissin me off...but i managed to get cs installed.
