bc dont work!

Umm, well i d-loaded bc, and wen i get to the part of settup, it says... "now checking to see if bc is compatible with ur comp" then i hit next, and my computer starts to load, then a few seconds later freezes 100% nothing moves! NOTHING! ctrl delete does nothing, ive d-loade it a couple times, pls help cause i really want to use bc, umm oh one more thing can i use bc without a mike, can i use the litle mike in my monitor, btw i have a windows 98 hp pentium 3!

This was taken from our Downloads page:

"An internet connection, microphone and speakers - while a headset is recommended - and sound card cable of full-duplex audio is all you need to operate this utility."

Check to see if your sound card is compatible. The "cable" should read "capable". You can use the mic on your monitor since there is a volume setting you can adjust in BC. maybe sound card is buggy or too old of version. it may also relate to bad direct-x installed. in this case.. i would pull out the sound card or disable it somehow and run the test again.. if it freezes.. re-install the bill-gates version of window.

Umm, Dragon. In my first post I mentioned the possibility that your sound card may be incompatible with BC. At least you listened to Ghost.

What Ghost suggested however for you to disable the sound card without opening the tower (maybe DOS, Startup) but if that's not possible then you will need to take it out manually. After doing so, run BC config again and if it stalls again then it may be another compatibility issue.

Another problem may be do to DirectX itself. Sometimes certain versions of DirectX doesn't work well with an OS type and/or programs. If this is the case then you will need to reinstall a different version of it. If you choose this option you will need to remove your current version of DirectX.

Worst case scenerio is to reformat Windows. I'm not sure if this is necessary however.

venge i did listen to you, but i didnt know that u could disable it.... im familiar wih ms dos prompt, but what would be the command for that?

To disable something in windows 98 if i'm not mistaken (I'm using XP now), go to start -> control panel> System -> hardware or device manager -> scroll down until you find "sound, video and game controllers open that, then find the sound card that you are having issues with right click on it and choose disable. You'll have to restart to reap the benefits. Enjoy :)
