8fps...anyone help?

is there any kind of way to boost your fps in counterstrike??
i currently use a p2 333mHz 64RAM computer and my vid card is an intel i740...i got the latest drivers for it, but the latest one was made in '99....
i run CS on 512x384 software rendering and i still get an avg of 8-10 fps...
please help if ur able to...thanks

any chance ur intel stuff supports opengl? and how much vid ram does the i740 chipset have? I use the i810e myself its got 8 megs vram (sucky I know), but I run in opengl and in 800x600 resolution.

Just a suggestion, type max_fps 99 in the console. And try using opengl mode if ur chipset supports it.

If neither of those two help and no one has any better ideas, u may wanna consider upgrading ur gfx card.

my intel i740 DOES support openGL...just that after around 5 minutes of playing my computer hangs...all the time
it has 8MB of video ram...maybe becoz of that it hangs?

well...maybe i shood get a new computer...the only game i can play that runs smoothly is starcraft =(

ITs not the vram bro. I am on a 810e chipset w/8 megs vram, it doesnt hang at all. My suggestion is go to intel website and update ur intel drivers. Also, get a handy intel program called INTEL APPLICATION ACCELERATOR while you are there. It helps many aspects of intel archetcture run better.

Also in opengl mode, cs requries a patch called the ati patch when run with intel chipsets. Now there are two patches, both are at www.sierra.com, (http://www.sierra.com,) support section, under halflife. For cs mod version Halflife ati patch. For cs retail version Counterstrike 1.0.0.3 ati patch. Note only use these if ur experiencing the "overflow error" or any of the issues noted in the ati patches commens section.

for the intel application accelerator, i cant use it as i dont hav the right chipset...
i think i have one of the earlier ones, the 440 one, something like that.
im not sure, i remember reading something about intel chipset when i bought my computer, but i used the chip identification utility program from intel and it said non-intel chipset....oh wellz...
as for the half life ATI patch, i dont have the overflow error when i try playing in opengl, it loads perfect, but the computer just hangs after a few minutes...i installed the ATI patch anyway

i dont think my computer can run openGL for more than 10 minutes, but it was worth trying all these patches and fixes as it got my hopes up ^_^
