Developed by ID software, the people who brought you the Quake series plus others, are turning the concept of Doom from a rush of badly scripted, looking monsters. Into a horde of intelligent thinking demons with only one intent, and that is to hunt down, and execute you.

This game has shown to me to be the absolute foremost game ever concieved in the field of graphics, this game, taking the computer and it's hardware to the breaking point, has turned this game into something to be truely felt and feared. I have played an Alpha version of this game, and I have got to say, none of the screenshots are ultra high res, or just made up from cinematics. All of the screenshots are REAL TIME gameplay. Amazing isnt it?

(Screenshots are low and high res. images provided by The Phobos Lab (http://3dactionplanet.com/doom/) )

This game has one flawed aspect in some eyes, it is largely single player, though a multiplayer is going to be available, it is rumoured to be largely uninspired and not ground breaking. John Carmack himself has confirmed this game will be an almost totally single player venture.

This game will in my eyes and mind will prove to be one of the scariest games I and many other people will ever play, this game, possessing next generation graphics, will once again be the first of it's kind, no, the first of any video game kind, to break such extreme ground in the graphical aspect. I dont know about you but when it releases, I am buying it.

The technical aspect of this game is a steep one, the minimum requirements of this game have yet to be announced, but from the looks of the graphics and the way my computer (PIII 900 MHZ Geforce3 128mb 215mb of RAM 80 GB of space on HD) handled the Alpha (5 FPS throughout the entire time), it will be VERY steep. Even a high-powered system may have to upgrade to run this game at it's full potential, the rest of us will just have to run on lower graphics settings.

More screenshots can be found under this paragraph and at The Phobos Lab (http://3dactionplanet.com/doom/), along with the latest DOOM III news, screenshots, interviews, files, and information on the game.

Awesome review Black. The graphics in Doom 3 are amazing. http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/thumbs.gif I hope you don't mind but I re-did your "" tags to:

<blockquote>code:<hr />
The "[screenie]" tags will resize the images to 400px max in width and will not break the Tables of the board and site. To view any of the images at full size just click on it. [img]http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/happy.gif

Hey Black Ice, Nice review http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/smile.gif . And i am still trying to get Doom 3 Alpha version, only place i found it is Kazza, but the speed is like 0.05-0.5 kbs/sec. It takes ages, i got like 70mbs/330mbs. So where did you get your Alpha version? And well yeah First doom was a big hit and than it showed what a game supposed to be like, it was scrary for me at first http://www.bac-clan.com/forum/images/smilies/ubb_import/smile.gif . I played doom 1, doom 2, ultimate doom, final doom. And my bro just downloaded some add ons for Doom, so we are playing doom 2 together at once, with respawn items, i was always a Doom fan, so i am just waiting for Doom 3, and i will buy it, and grafix are very real. Most amazing stuff.

If it's uninspired, that's Id for you. They push technology, but their level design has always been mainly just a maze filled with monsters.

And on that note, can't wait for Half Life 2 to come out.

This time Bel, there is an ultimate objective you work for, the multiplayer is (could be) uninspired. The single player is (probably will be) going to be one of the best ever. There are elements you can stumble across that clue you into the story even farther than the intro has taken you.

And Trooper, I got my Alpha off of Kazaa, I had good people to DL from for once and got in in two days. Make sure the file is about 363 MBs big.

And also while your at it, you can download the E3 2003 trailer of DOOM III. You get to see many of these screens shown in real time. You can find it over at 3D Gamers (http://www.3dgamers.com) . Or at Fileplanet (http://www.fileplanet.com) , and a number of other locations.<div align="left">

i shat myself after looking at those screenies, and i'm not even seeing them at thier fullest. i'm using a GeForce2, which doesn't do them justice, so they must be AWESOME on, say, a Radeon 9700.

a must get for me. however the lack of a good multiplayer makes it almost impossible for bac to have a doom division i guess. that SUCKS!

Who knows, the bad multiplayer is purely speculatory. It will wait to be seen, this game I will own, I can tell you all that now. Maybe if the multiplayer is worth it we can all fire up a bac division lol.

The old school FPS gamers are all drooling heavily in anticipation of this particular title.....

I remember getting the Shareware version of DOOM and falling absolutely in love with it. occasionally for fun I go back to DOOM or DOOM II just for a little old school fun......and of course fun in DOOM is spelled BFG.

Hopefully they keep the spirit of the game alive...... it isn't all about breathtaking graphics or sound..... ultimately as with all games, it is about gameplay and fun.
